Fire's name was changed to Azteca when she was adopted originally. She has been returned to us due to changes in family circumstances.  She's a beautiful dark brindle girl who is a little shy with new people and situations.  Once she warms up she loves to give kisses, go for walks or just curl up on the couch.

Azteca will need a family with no cats.  Small children make her nervous but a home with older children or adults only would be perfect for her.  Azteca is on thyroid medication and will need to continue this for the rest of her life.  This is an inexpensive medication.

Medical update [March '08]: A lump was discovered in Azteca's neck and after removing it for analysis, it was discovered that it was cancer in her thyroid gland.  Chest x-rays were done to see if it had spread and at this point, everything looks clear.  However, they found her heart was enlarged (even for a greyhound).  After an ultrasound, the vet diagnosed mild mitral valve disease.  She will need another ultrasound in 6 months (which GPA Tri-State will take care of) to see if the condition changes any.  The vet did go ahead and start Azteca on Enalapril for her heart.  This is also a relatively inexpensive medication and she will need it for the rest of her life.
